Raccoons on the Run
Last night sounded like raccoons were running a relay race on our (metal) roof. They do this a lot but lately have been ramping up the action. Mostly because of the five babies that two mama 'coons have been depositing up there to keep them out of trouble while they eat on the terrace below. The other night one baby was nursing just outside the sliding glass door. It's interesting they feel so comfortable around us. We are up to 13 raccoons, the occasional skunk or possum, and a vegetarian fox (he always grabs a piece of fruit and ignores the others and the dog food scattered about). The nightly cafe opened up two years ago when they became attracted to the food I put out for the stray cats that hang around. Needless to say, I don't keep any koi or goldfish in the koi pond anymore!
