Cuckoo for Coconuts

A dear long-time friend came out today and we hauled off 10 wheelbarrow loads of leaves (well, he did most of the heavy lifting and work). Can you believe raking in late June still? Ugh. On to weeding. The day started out overcast and breezy but by the afternoon it was hot. This made me think of the article I read in the health section of Time a few weeks ago about coconut water.

Coconut water is supposed to be an excellent rehydrater; better than Gatorade. C Water is extracted from fruit too young to have formed milk. It is low in calories, has no fat, and contains less sugar than most juices. According to the article, it contains the same five electrolytes found in human blood. In fact, in emergencies it has been used intravenously when conventional hydration fluids have been unavailable.

C Water is the 'new next thing,' that athletes and health nuts have discovered. Sales topped $50 million last year. The top three brands are Zico, O.N.E., and VitaCoco. There's a lot of hype out there about the benefits of the drink, mostly false, (it's doubtful it cures cancer or even cramps), but since it does help with dehydration better than Gatorade or most drinks, I would've been happy to try it this afternoon,

Isn't it amazing that after alllll these years, people are finally ocming back to nature and discovering what agent people already knew? Everything we need is already right here under our very noses.

It's odd you posted this today, because I was thinking about a coconut just last night, wanting to drink the milk and chip away at the sweet meat...my dad and I used to "fight" over the coconut milk when we got one in Germany when I was a kid...

I can't believe you're raking in Juen, but I'm happy for you because that means you are surrounded by a lot of trees...how I LOVE trees!

Have a wonderful weekend and God bless you and your critters (wild and domestic)...your package has been mailed - finally!!! - let me know when it arrives, please.

Much love,
Doris and the Gizz-Meister ;-)

I've been wanting to try that when I'm running instead of my G2/water blend.

It's hot here, too!

Will have to relay this info to my hard working kids. (grown) They are always looking for hydration methods, other than constantly drinking gallons of water.

Yeah, put me down for some of that too! I like the idea of quaffing liquid sustenance from the heart of an immature coconut! Very informative! :)

I ate alot of coconuts growing up in the tropics and you are right about this...

It has been very hot here as well...Good luck with the weeding...I'm still enjoying the tea!

I’ve actually used it and it does work. I caught a nasty… something, two years ago and was vomiting and had diarrhea for 4 full days…horrible. My wife bought me several different rehydraters. Coconut milk worked by far the best (with no bloating) out of them all.

Sorry about the TMI but this was a health related issue.

Sounds like a good time. I may have to try some of that coconut water myself.

Not only is it great for electrolyte replacement, it is also an antioxidant, and is known to increase libido and enhance sexual performance in men and women.

WOW, that would be awesome. Where would one get the "real thing".
As soon as some company gets the "hype" of it then they destory the real value of it by adding crap.
I think really, there are so many REALLY healthy things out there...if we could get them untouched, and real.
I'd love that

Whoa, I just read Urban Cowboys comment....WHAT increase libido and enhance sexual performance
WHERE DO I GET THAT!!!!!!!!!
If I have to swim to Hawaii or wherever coconuts are grown, I'll put on my arm "floaties" and get there. (tee, hee)
