This One's for Zodiblog....

When we designed our bedroom addition one top priority (to me, anyway) was making it a space for our cats. After all, as 'indoor' cats they are here far more than we are. I also wanted them to feel they could still get 'out' when they wanted. So the catwalk over the bed leads to a high column, and under the skylight are two beams they can sunbathe on and watch the raccoons up close at night. The glass walls have wide ledges for hanging out. The screened-in porch has a cat door so they can come and go as they please. C over at Letters from Joshua has an actual tree his cats climb as their scratching post in their bedroom that is waaay cool. It's on his blog somewhere; maybe he'll post it again....and no, Krowe, no cat additions as of two years ago -- four in the house is my limit.

Happy St. Patrick's day! I am off to clean the house and make an Irish lamb stew and a pot of potato soup (for my vegetarian guests) for the monthly WOW I'm hosting Friday. (Witches of Wye, as we call ourselves in jest -- though with all the black cats I seem to accumulate, maybe there is something to it...). Surprised TCM isn't running The Quiet Man today, but I have a copy.....

Is it possible to be an honorary WOW member at a distance? I also seem to collect cats and two of my three are black or bi-colour (tux).

Have fun and as a vegetarian, it is lovely of you to accomodate your veggie friends. I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

I love that you made your room "cat friendly." Greg added a ledge to the window so our cat, Tigger, could sleep there :)

I'd better not let my cat, Mason, see this post. He'll run away to go live at your place. Happy St. Patrick's Day. That stew sure does sound yummy.

Cats kinda scare me.
My sister had a siamese cat when we were young. It did not need a litter box as it used the TOILET. We were told upon buy this cat how to train them to do so. Just had to leave the toilet lid open for her.
too bad, she didn't flush though

Were you serious in your comment to me about the New Yorker? They probably would not publish mine---not at all like their usual fare...Thanks for popping by!

Thanks for the nod Amy, I appreciate it. You have some very lucky felines! Even more so you have an amazing, beautiful house!

I don’t allow my cat to get outside at all. Since we saved him from a trashcan when he was 3 weeks old, he’s only been on the terrace. There are too many street cats out here…hundreds, and they are very territorial. And since the streets are very narrow and cars still fly through them, I’d just rather not take the chance. If we lived somewhere with some space….. all offers will be considered. Lol.

Wow, I love that space. The natural light is so appealing. I'm sure your kitties are in heaven!

I want to see the rest of your house! :)
