Stormy Weather

It was a winter wonderland out there, and so beautiful I was going to take a photo from bed -- of course, I didn't. The best laid plans...It was our second snow of the year. Now it's just COLD again.

Our studio cat, MC, rushed out the door to chase off the stray two Sundays ago and is still missing...In the cold, rain, and snow. Considering she's been an inside cat for 7 years, we are heart-broken. Plus, our neighbor reported two coyotes in his yard. Not cool. A friend (mentor of 'all things cat') suggested hanging an item of clothing outside to 'lure' her back via the scent.

Our next-door neighbor has hiking trails behind her house so I went tramping around trying to find cat tracks in the snow. They have a motion-detector camera near a deer-feeding station that I noticed when it 'clicked' -- if I had seen it earlier I would've given a big wave and smile!

After this MC incident, and Excy's hand bite, I am MORE than ready to find a home for this little stray. I talked to at least 10 people about the cat Sunday, but no takers. I know it's not the little guy's fault, but he's worn out his welcome. With everything we're dealing with, on top of this, I just cannot deal. I wish they'd stop seeking us out.

When I'm upset, I cook and bake. So far I've made coffee-braised beef brisket, roasted veggies, spaghetti and meatballs, roast chicken and mashed potatoes, chili and cornbread, quiche, citrus salad, apple crisp, and brownies. Tomorrow is chicken and dumplings. Yikes.

I need to turn my attention to my latest editing project and house cleaning (or Weight Watchers).

Hey... have finally caught up with a few back posts. Cooking DOES seem to make things a bit more tolerable at times.......for me it's the comfort of not just food but the kitchen and what it used to represent in our lives (togetherness).

Sorry about the cat..crazy independent things that they are! I had one disappear for a month once then come sashaying back like nothing was wrong.

Will send positive thoughts your way. Hope you have a good week.

I know what you mean. I'm a stray cat magnet and sometimes it becomes too much. The thought of moving away from here (albeit stressful and expensive) represents a way out - a vacation - at least for a while till they find me again.

The cold weather has them especially desperate for food and shelter and they come around to the apartments more than usual. I can't stand to see a creature suffer, so I feed them all...so sorry about your cat. I lost mine when she slipped out a while back. We have no leash law and neighboring hunting dogs periodically roam our neighborhood only to kill our cats and mine was among them...but, never give up hope! I once lost a cat in the city for 10 days thinking she got run over by a car, but alas, one fine day she came walking along the sidewalk with her paws all black from pounding the pavement and she was home again. She always stuck close to the house henceforth - I believe she may have fallen asleep in the sun on a truck and got carried off...

All my best and I hope your cat will come back!

Aw, my heart is breaking for you and your lost cat. Not knowing is a nightmare. I would find someone to take the stray if only temporiarly. Sometimes cats will stay out of sight till the hated cat leaves. Then it will return. I have had this happen.
Sure hope she comes home soon.

Oh, no. I lost a kitty like that about 10 years ago. Buttercup was 9. We had coyotes near by, too. I saw their paw prints on the car that night. I'll say a prayer for MC.

All that food sounds fabulous! Feel free to ship some to Cali for me, k?

PS. Thanks for stopping by my blog :)
