Saving the Best for Last......

Since so many of you seemed to enjoy the obituaries, I thought I would post one that was 1) funny, and 2) conveys the Mt. mentality here - where we have beautiful houses nestled in the woods and neighbors in trailers and worn-out toilets potted in the front yard with mums.

This time, I am using the real name, since it is an essential part of the obit.

Billy Gene "Dawg" Spitler, Jr.* of Bigelow. Owned and operated Dawgs Hawg House in Little Italy.** He was an Indian Medicine Man and enjoyed outdoor life. He was into*** gardening and growing his own herbs.**** He loved motorcycling and ATV riding. He was preceeded in death by his son, Billy G. Spitler III, and his father Billy G. Spitler, Sr.

*gasp
**see my post 'introductions.'
***love the phrasing.
**** I'll bet. Wish I could find the plot.

Now for what the story did not say. I have it on the best authority from E., who ran 'The Store.' The Store was our only convenience store up here, and E. knew things about people the people she discussed didn't even know. Yet. No matter she bought stuff at Walmart and charged 50% more on her shelves, she was a treasure, and if you ran out of something, you had to make a trip...going an hour into town just wasn't feasible. The Store had to close after it lost its license to sell cigarettes when E. mistakenly sold to a minor, and wasn't able to sell gas anymore because of cracked storage tanks. Everyone misses the gossip and her fried pies. Anyway....apparently Mr. Dawg stumbled off his porch and drunkenly staggered into a puddle and then fell onto his electrified gate chasing a pig out of the house.........he was naked. What a way to go. Hot Dawg.

Hello ~ your blog is beautiful. I would like to go peacefully without pain... but we can't always plan these things eh? Failing that I'd like to go on my Yamaha FJR 1300cc motorbike, riding off into the sunset....

Ok you cannot make that up! Hot Dawg is right. What an obit! I have to admit I miss small towns on the mountain...any town on any mountain for that matter.
